Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry

The Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry is the principal family history society for the counties of: Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire.

The society covers the areas of the old counties as they existed before the major boundary changes of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as the areas brought into them by those changes. In particular the modern metropolitan boroughs of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton (collectively known as the West Midlands) are covered. The metropolitan boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton are also sometimes collectively referred to as "The Black Country".

Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Archive Service Holds archives relating to past and present life in Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent, and makes them available to the people of Staffordshire and its visitors. Resources include - Staffordshire Record Office, Stoke on Trent City Archives and the Lichfield Record Office. Sources are also available for Burton at Burton Family and Local History Centre.
Wolverhampton Archives and Local Studies Holds documents, maps, books, photos, censuses, newspapers etc. relating to the history of all areas now within the present City of Wolverhampton including Bilston, Bushbury, Penn, Tettenhall, and Wednesfield.

HISTORY  
Lichfield Heritage Centre History and resources of the Lichfield area
Walsall Local History Centre Walsall Local History Centre, opened in 1986, is run by Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council to look after the historic records of Walsall. We provide the Borough Archive Service and Local Studies Library for the area. Anyone is welcome to visit, whether it is to research a particular local history topic, or your family tree.
